Penalties and miscues proved to big an obstacle to overcome for the Tigers as they stumbled on the road at Cobre, 41-33 in the 3-3A District opener.

Despite Tiger heroics, and some tough Tiger defensive stands, borth flags, fumblers and interceptions were simply too much to overcome for our Tigers. The team went into the half with a 19-13 lead that included a 51 yard punt return by Jorge Ceniceros on his first game returning from the injured list.

The third quarter was decisive in the outcome. A Cobre pass was picked off at mid-field by the Tigers Cameron Zamora who ran it 50 yard in for a touchdown. The Tigers intercepted Cobre passes four times, with Devin Gonzales picking off two and Zamora and Nick McIlrath grabbing one each.

The Tigers could not manage another score in the quarter, while the home team put 28 points on the board, a deficit the Tigers could to overcome.
