Have you ever wondered why there are so many DUI accidents in the U.S.? Well, it’s probably because the drinking age is so high. In France, the drinking age is 16, and there were only 2,400 DUI crashes in 2015. In the U.S., where the drinking age is 21, there were as many as 10,320 people that died in a DUI related crash in 2015.

All this just shows how the lower the drinking age, the lower the chance of a DUI or alcohol caused accident. This is because kids that are not exposed to alcohol at a young age will indulge themselves once they come of age.

Here in New Mexico, we are ninth in the country for the most arrests relating to DUI. So, if young people are exposed to drinking and alcohol at a younger age, they will be less likely to drink while driving.
