Veterans Day 2019 is Monday, November 11. In honor of local armed services veterans and all those who have stepped forward to serve the country, many in Sierra County will no doubt be joining in one, or both, of the formal community celebrations being offered. This coming weekend will also feature several other gatherings which also support those U.S. armed services veterans, or otherwise encourage residents and guests to celebrate the holiday.


•Veterans Day Car Show 8 A.M. To 4 P.M. on the grounds of the New Mexico State Veterans Home, 992 South Broadway.

•Veterans Memorial Park Ceremony – Beginning at 11 a.m. officials with Truth or Consequences’ Veterans Memorial Park, 996 South Broadway, will host a special Veterans Day ceremony featuring numerous dignitaries and guest speakers.


•The New Mexico State Veterans Home, 992 South Broadway will welcome area residents and guests to the facility’s annual Veterans Day Ceremony beginning promptly at 10 a.m. This year’s ceremony includes guest speaker, New Mexico District 38 State Representative Rebecca Dow and Chief Warrant Officer Robert “Bob” Rangel among others.

Prior to the ceremony, refreshments will be served in the facility’s main lobby beginning at 8:30 a.m. and tours will be offered at 9 a.m.


•Saturday evening, November 10, the City of Truth or Consequences’ downtown business district will open their doors for a monthly Art Hop celebration and festivities. •Saturday evening, November 10 will also see the Elephant Butte Chamber of Commerce host their annual Desert Diamond Casino Night at the Sierra Del Rio Golf Course clubhouse, 101 Clubhouse Drive, 744-7106.
