Terry Dalrymple and Edna Trager

Terry Dalrymple congratulates Edna Trager.

With a congratulatory handshake from municipal judge Terry Dalrymple upon completion of her oath of office, Edna Trager formally accepted the post of mayor for the City of Elephant Butte November 6. The afternoon’s regular meeting also saw Dalrymple preside over the swearing-in of city manager Vicki Ballinger and new councilor Mike Williams. Williams was selected by board members from a list of candidates to fill the vacant seat created by Trager’s move to the mayoral post. Trager’s move also created a vacancy in the city’s mayor pro-tem post, which was promptly filled by longtime council member Kim Skinner with unanimous support from the board. The council’s November 6 regular meeting further included board approval of the city’s 2017/2018 Fiscal Year audit, endorsement of a floodplain management agreement with Sierra County, and approval of a resolution securing New Mexico Department of Transportation funding for the planned Camino Cinco road project. In other action, councilors approved selection of the Las Cruces-based Holt, Mynatt, Martinez law firm to serve as the city’s legal representative, endorsed a series of budget adjustments tied to fiscal year-ending discrepancies, and okayed the addition of city manager Ballinger to the list of signatories for the municipality.
