Kacie Welty A Texas man is believed to have fallen asleep at the wheel Wednesday afternoon, February 1 and ran off the road about two miles south of the Las Palomas exit off I-25. An eyewitness reported having passed the white Dodge Dakota just prior to the incident and said the driver crossed over the center line as he was trying to pass. The witness told Sierra County Sheriff Deputies that he then saw the truck veer off into the median, then crossed back over and left the roadway. The truck then traveled down the steep embankment and came to rest near a large concrete drainage culvert that runs under the highway, near the fence. Chuck Wentworth Crewmembers with the city of T-or-C successfully installed a new flagpole at "Triangle Park" last week, officially replacing one that was damaged in an automobile crash last year. Jimmy Butler The Lady Tigers played three games in five days for the second week in a row and it's certainly starting to take a toll on the young athletes. In the first game on Friday, January 27 the Lady Tigers hosted the Cobre Lady Indians, a team that has been struggling to field teams in the past couple of years. Cobre played very well defensively to begin the game and held Hot Springs to only six points in the first three minutes of the game. The Lady Tigers led 6-0 in a slow paced game that promised to be a low scoring affair. On offense Cobre spent most of their time passing the ball around, trying to find an opening against the tough Hot Springs defense.
